Photographer Spotlight: Maureen Cassidy
Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Maureen Cassidy over coffee. What a lovely person! Not only is she a vibrant talented photographer who’s work has been featured in Offbeat Bride, she’s a prenatal yoga instructor, and we share a passion for outdoor weddings and barn weddings!
When I asked her about what she liked about being a wedding photographer she replied, “For me, being a wedding photographer is the best possible job ever. I love love. Being around people on their wedding day is so awesome!” She regularly finds herself grinning ear-to-ear on her way home from shooting weddings.
When she talks about her approach to wedding photography, she emphasizes that on a wedding day, she’s there for
her clients. It’s not about “My day of creating art.” It’s about capturing the “authentic quality of what’s happening in the moment.” She strives to pull out the interactions and spontaneity of the wedding party. “Weddings are light & fun– love-soaked”. There’s a synergy that works between the client and the photographer- that brings forth some of the best moments. Her goal is to capture the spirit of fun that happens between people. While her photographic style is primarily photojournalistic, she’s not a purist. She gives enough direction to bring out the joy &
encourage interaction of the bridal party. “I encourage people to be playful while being themselves!”
Describing her favorite weddings she said “I gravitate toward more vibrance than drama.
